Facemasks at Delphi

In Scotland we are required to wear facemasks in shops. In response to this one of our staff has started a project making Facemasks at Delphi. Delphi Steel offices are based in Scotland, and easing of lockdown restrictions are well on the way. Although business certainly hasn’t resumed to pre-lockdown, things are somewhat quieter. Delphi Steels’ Sales Manager, Lili Mackenzie, has decided to use this extra time for something worthwhile.
She’s turned her hand to the sewing machine, a little less designing buildings and a little more designing facemasks! Luckily her talented daughter of the ripe old age of 10 is there to show mum how to use her sewing machine. I asked Lili why she is doing this.
‘Being a mum of two and working for Delphi Steel certainly keeps me busy! However I’m very aware of the efforts of essential workers and the sacrifices they are making every day to keep the country running. We wanted to put a little of our own effort directly towards the fight against Covid-19. We are all encouraged to wear facemasks. When we heard that this could lead to a shortage for the NHS, myself and my kids decided to do something that might help.
So far we’ve been trying out a few designs, we like this one the best. We have lots of different fabric designs and have four sizes so hoping that there is something for everyone. Price was discussed at great length and we decided we would ask for donations for the sake of making them affordable for everyone. All proceeds will go to the NHS.’
